Greystone Foundation’s Golfin’ and Groovin’ Charity Event

Featured Image

One of the most anticipated events of the year for the Greystone community is Groove on the Green. An annual tradition, Groove on the Green is expected to be even bigger and more impactful in 2023!

This is a three-day affair with different fundraising events happening from August 24-27. On Thursday, August 24, there will be a charity golf tournament to kick off the weekend of giving. Sponsors receive discounted Groove on the Green tables, custom company signage, and more–anyone who is interested in registering to play as a team, to sponsor, or both is encouraged to reach out to Greg Crutcher at golf@greystonefoundation.com. On Friday, August 25, the festivities continue with a silent auction and acoustic night at Cellar 91.

The grand finale of the weekend will take place on Saturday, August 26 on the Founder’s Course. Coca-Cola is the title sponsor for this year’s event, and thanks to a strong musical lineup, organizers expect about 1,500 people to attend. Gates open at 5:30 pm, and Nashville-based cover band 12 South will take the stage at 7:30 pm. They have toured all over the world, and will bring their high-energy set list to Greystone for a night that everyone can sing along to! At Groove on the Green, concert-goers will enjoy incredible music and entertainment with the beautiful greens of Founders Course and the Clubhouse as a backdrop. Families are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $25.00 in lieu of purchasing a ticket.

In addition to the live music, guests will enjoy food trucks, yard games, a beverage tent, two VIP tents with open bar and food, a children’s section with multiple light-up bounce houses, and a new VIP teen section with another large light-up bounce house. The VIP Tables are going quickly, please email groove@greystonefoundation.org for more information. Attendees also have the option to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a night under the stars with great music, family, and friends.

Greystone Foundation on a Mission

Groove on the Green began as an effort of Greystone Golf & Country Club’s own 501c3, Greystone Foundation. The Greystone Foundation was originally chartered back in 1992 and has been providing resources and support to non-profit organizations located in the greater Birmingham Metro area ever since. Financial support provided by the foundation is targeted toward addressing the specific needs of non-profit organizations and ultimately, maximizing community impact.

Greystone Foundation is led by a group of Greystone Members who volunteer their time and talents to ensure the successful implementation of the Foundation’s mission.

Grooving on the Green to Make an Impact

Greystone Foundation has selected three local charitable organizations to benefit from funds raised through the Foundation’s efforts this year. All funds raised are distributed evenly among the chosen charities.

This year, the charities that will benefit are the Hope for Autumn Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families with children battling cancer; Lifeline Children’s Services, the largest evangelical adoption agency in the country supporting vulnerable children and pregnant women, as well as providing family and reunification services; and the new Greystone Foundation Employee Scholarship that will be used to award financial assistance to current Greystone Golf & Country Club employees or their families pursuing higher education. Representatives from each of the chosen charities will be in attendance and will speak at the event.

Groove on the Green is one of the most anticipated fundraisers hosted by the Foundation each year. Event chair, Susan Peeples, is a longtime resident and Member of Greystone. Her first year as Chairman of the Groove on the Green was a massive success by growing the event's impact and awareness among Greystone residents and throughout the local community.

This year, Peeples plans to make sure the community knows that Greystone gives back. “We’re really excited about our charities this year. And, there’s no overhead at Greystone Foundation. Everyone volunteers, everything raised goes straight to the charities.”

The Greystone community will not want to miss this opportunity to support organizations making a positive impact within the Birmingham area. Interested in learning more? Do something good today. Email groove@greystonefoundation.org
