The Drescher’s Enjoy Greystone As A Sweet Escape For Their Family

From the beginning, Jonathan Drescher’s family has been at the heart of his Greystone experience. Originally hailing from Lilburn, Georgia, Jonathan met his now-wife, Taylor, whose family had been long-time members of Greystone Golf and Country Club, and welcomed Jonathan into the Birmingham fold. The Club has remained a place to get away and enjoy time together as a family ever since.

A PLACE TO START A LIFE TOGETHER

The couple not only chose Greystone as the perfect venue for their wedding, but they also decided to join as members themselves, recognizing the Club would serve as a place to gather with their growing family. Today, their two sons, Benjamin, aged 15, and Beau, aged 12 have grown to love playing golf, as well.

A PLACE TO KICK-BACK

Jonathan, Taylor, and the boys hold active roles in many aspects of the greater community, so the family is always staying busy. “We attend Briarwood Presbyterian and are involved in many activities there, particularly the boys with the youth groups. The boys are avid golfers and musicians playing instruments from piano and guitar to banjo, mandolin, and anything else they can get their hands on.”

Finding ways to kick-back and enjoy family time is a noted advantage of being Club members. When Jonathan isn’t at church or working as an Operational Risk Manager for a finance company, he says the family enjoys the many wonderful amenities at Greystone. His personal favorite? “The golf courses!” he says.

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO HAVE FUN

“It’s a beautiful place,” says Jonathan. “From the grounds and the courses to the clubhouses. While it may be known for its exquisite golf, it has something for everyone.”

He also notes that Greystone stands out to him because of the commitment to constant improvement and opportunities to enhance the experience for the members. “It’s not stagnant and complacent,” Jonathan explains. “As wonderful as it is, the Club is always looking to get better and add additional amenities and improvements.” One of these improvements is the Lakeside Pavilion expansion which will include pickleball, basketball, and sand volleyball courts.

Golf is just one of the many sports Jonathan enjoys, in addition to staying busy and working with his hands. “I like to tinker in building things occasionally and doing things around the house. Sports has always been my passion, and though I’m long past the time of participating, I love watching and following my teams.” (Florida State, Braves, Falcons, United, and US Soccer -- to name a few!)

A PLACE TO SAVOR DREAMS

While a trip to the Club is a satisfying escape for the Drescher family, Jonathan says that travel abroad is also high on the family’s bucket list. “I want to travel to London with my wife. We’ve both been separately before being married,” he says. “But I’d love to travel there together.”

And of course, like the devoted golfer he is, he’s got one other outing high on his bucket list. “One day,” Jonathan adds, “I’m going to attend The Masters, too!”

Becoming a member at Greystone means more than great golf, it’s a place to share with your family, a place to make friends, and a place to plan for the future you’ve always imagined.
